What’s Included In Our Cycling Holiday

Cycling Is Just the Start

The Region

Liguria – A virtually unique region, whose mountains rise steeply directly from the ocean. Don’t be fooled into thinking this is a flat costal region; these climbs pack a punch. These geographical features have defined both the landscape and its people. Glamour and palm trees on the coast in stark contrast to the isolation and simple country life in the villages of the hinterland, connected by an endless labyrinth of roads, punctuated by unspoilt valleys. The picturesque mountain villages reveal bars, where you can enjoy a focaccia and decent cappuccino.

7 Guided Tours

Our holiday week offers you 7 road cycling tours in the most beautiful areas of Liguria. Chiavari has a unique geographical setting, offering four river valleys from which the hinterland can be accessed directly. We ride varied tours to the coast and the numerous Apennine mountain passes.
We cycle in 3 groups organized according to speed and ability and each group has its own guide. Given the mountainous nature of the region, all of our tours have at least 1500 vertical meters

Fine Dining in Chiavari

Liguria – A taste sensation. Its cuisine is as varied as the region itself and enjoys a well-deserved reputation. To take best advantage of this, we forego the pasta buffet half board hotel option, to enjoy the relaxed atmosphere of authentic local restaurants. Allow our guides to introduce you to various local specialties and enjoy an equally unforgettable conclusion to an epic cycling tour!

Three Dates, Three Holidays

How Do They Differ

Rennradreise Saisonauftakt in Ligurien

Season Opener, April 14th – April 21st 2018

It isn’t flat, but it is a proven means of getting your season off to a great start. From the hardcore winter cyclists who want to test their form with a few serious climbs, to those whose conscience has only forced them to get out on the bike two weeks before, and want to take things at a more relaxed pace, this holiday offers something for everyone. We ride in three groups that accommodate the different fitness levels of our guests.
We stay close to the coast with its breathtaking views and milder conditions. Our longest ride takes us deeper into the hinterland, where on the higher mountains, we often find the final traces of winter.

Rennradreise Formaufbau in Ligurien

Form Fine Tuning, May 12th – May 19th 2018

Does what it says on the tin: This is the perfect point in the season to inject new motivation into your training. Our tours take us across the extended mountain passes into the hinterland and valleys, where we can clock up both kilometers and vertical meters. However, the flat sections can often be more challenging than the climbs as we reap the benefits of our training and enjoy a little friendly competition.
This week is all about fun, training, enjoying the spring, and good times on and off the bike

Season Closer, September 22th – September 29th 2018

A perfect conclusion to the season, which can become dangerously addictive… and often an unexpected highlight of the year.
Liguria enjoys the best weather in September. Warm late summer conditions provide great views and fitness levels allow us to ride longer tours and enjoy al fresco dining in the evening.
A relaxed week at the end of the season, where the focus is on enjoying cycling, now that most of the season’s goals have been achieved. The truly addicted often make a repeat booking at the end of the holiday!

About Me

Italian-loving Swiss entrepreneur, a bike has always been my main means of transport. I discovered an intensive passion for road cycling far too late, but have been making up for lost time ever since. In 2008, I started to develop the holiday division of quaeldich, focusing originally on road cycling holidays in Liguria. We founded Stessaonda, the company behind our Cycling Adventures road cycling holiday brand in 2016.

About Me

Born and raised in Bern, for years I had little interest in any form of sporting activity. In 2006, I first started road cycling and after entering the Alpenbrevet 2010 (Bieridee) discovered a passion for mountains that I have never lost. This is not to say, that I have lost my love of downtime, I just call it regeneration these days.

About Me

A native German, I discovered a passion for road cycling at a young age, and in recent years it has become the main focus of my sporting activities. Liguria and specifically the area around Imperia have become my second home. I met Lukas and Lutz on a cycling holiday in 2010 and have been guiding with them since 2014.

About Me

Born in West Germany, I have lived in Switzerland for several years. I started road cycling in 2009, after a shoulder injury forced me to look for new sport. I met Lukas on a cycling holiday in 2010 and started guiding. We founded Stessaonda.net in 2016 and I am now continuing to organize the road cycling holidays, which were previously marketed by quaeldich, under the Cycling Adventures banner, our road cycling holiday brand.

Getting Here

TRAVEL IS NOT INCLUDED

By Car

Chiavari is a coastal town about 40 kilometers south of Genoa with its own motorway exit from the Genoa – Livorno motorway. Our hotel has a secure underground car park, where you can park your car for 50 euros a week. In the interests of sustainability, we are happy to help organize carpooling with other guests in advance where possible.
Chiavari in Google Maps

BY AIR

Chiavari is close to four major airports: Milano Malpensa, Milano Linate, Genova and Pisa. Milan has the most flights, but travelling on from here by train to Chiavari is relatively complicated. Genoa has far fewer flights, but it is easier to get to Chiavari from here by bus and train. Pisa is a good compromise, offering more flight connections than Genoa and a fast train link.

By Train

Chiavari is on the main line between Genoa and Rome and nearly all trains stop here. You can take your bike by train without a problem to Milan, but from here, you can only take very slow regional trains. However, we have found that it is possible to take your bike on the direct trains provided it is packed in a bike case
